This site describes the various functions of our city along with information on housing, business, industry, our great school system, and growth.
Our location on the Interstate 20 corridor and interconnecting roads make our community very convenient to Birmingham, Montgomery, Chattanooga, Memphis, and Atlanta.
We are unique as communities go: Home to Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, along with the Talladega Superspeedway and the International Motorsports Hall of Fame there is a lot going on in our community. Housing varies from lake front homes on Logan Martin Lake to patio or unique styled homes in one of our many subdivisions.
We welcome new business and industry. While we do like the big ones like Honda we go out of our way to work with any business looking for a place to be wanted.
If you are looking for a place to retire this might be the place for you. Downtown Birmingham with its great medical facilities is some forty-five minutes down Interstate 20. We are blessed with a number of doctors at our two medical clinics and not to forget our dentist and eye docs.
For growing families our schools have all been constructed since 2001 and a new addition is under construction at this time. The football team makes the state playoffs almost every year. Our basketball team has one state title under its belt. Our parks are second to none and growing. In 2009, we hosted the state playoffs for baseball at our new Lincoln Park. We have a total of five parks within the City. We have one large walking trail at Moseley Park and a smaller scenic trail bordering Blue Eye Creek.
For higher education there is Talladega College 10 miles away or within two hours the University of Alabama or Auburn University. Some 40 minutes away is Jacksonville State University or junior college programs in close by Pell City, Gadsden and Anniston.
