Mayor Carroll "Lew"  Watson


The Mayor is the executive branch of the City and serves as the chief administrative officer who is responsible for the following:

  • Managing and directing the City’s seven departments and a team of eighty-five plus employees
  • Preparing and executing the budgets of the City
  • Implementing policies and procedures of the Lincoln City Council
  • Providing direction in absence of Council policy
  • As an elected official, the Mayor is the chief presiding officer at all Council meetings who has the power of:
    • A voting member of the Council
    • Making policy recommendations to the Council
    • Serving as the ambassador for the City both at home and in the national arena
    • Appoints Planning and Zoning Commission members
