Chief Darren Britton is a native of Lincoln, Alabama and is a lifelong member of Lincoln Baptist Church, he has been involved in the Boy Scouts, Lincoln Baseball for Youth, and the FFA Alumni Association for many years.

Chief Britton is a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1984 and attended Jacksonville State University from 1986-1991.  Chief Britton was also a member of the 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) with the Alabama Army National Guard from 1984-1993.

Chief Britton started his law enforcement career with Talladega Police Department from 1990-2000.  While working with Talladega he served as Reserve Officer, Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Crime Scene Technician, Patrol Supervisor, SWAT Member and SWAT Commander.   In 2000 Chief Britton joined the Lincoln Police Department and expanded his law enforcement career in addition to services listed above he served as Firearms Instructor, Investigator, Warrant Officer, Patrol Commander and Captain of Investigations until appointed as Chief of Police in October of 2014.
