The city has the basic type of commercial activities. With all of the Interstate Exits having full infrastructure available and vacant land for sale the city hopes that new business will locate in the city. In addition to the Interstate Exits land is also available for development on Alabama Highway 77, U.S. Highway 78 and other locations throughout the city. Basic retail and services currently are offered in the community. With the growth in the past decade and expected growth expected there will be an increasing demand for more commercial activities and services. Residents currently are hoping that new growth will bring on another grocery store, national restaurants, and more shopping opportunities.
The city has three banks. All are active lenders and offer a full range of banking services. Each of the banks has a good track record of supporting local business activities.
To promote commercial and similar activities the city has provided adequate infrastructure to each of the two interstate exits. Vacant land exist at both exits with commercial zoning, making development possible. The water system and waste water treatment plant has adequate capacity for more growth in the city.
Medical services are provided by two medical clinics, a dental office, optometrist, and chiropractic clinic. Within ten miles are two hospitals and the medical complex of Birmingham lies approximately 40 miles west on Interstate 20.
