The City Industrial Board works with the County Economic Development Authority in promoting industry in the city. The city has a 160 acre industrial park. This park is presently vacant land bordering McCaig Road, which is a service road betwen Interstate 20 Exits 165 and 168. The site has full access to sewer and a looped 12″ water main. Two water tanks are close to the land, a 2 million and a half million gallon. The land is available in almost any size acreage. A preliminary plan of development has been prepared but activity on hold due to the present economy.
The city is active in attempting to bring in jobs for the community. Major industries currently in the area are Honda, Legacy Cabinet, Southern Defense, ATAP, and Honda support companies.
The city has purchased 160 acres for an industrial park. The land is located between Interstate Exits 165 and 168. The site is on the service road between the two exits. One half mile of roadway fronts on the service road, which has been named McCaig Road. Adequate infrastructure borders the site, a looped twelve inch water line and a sewer line. The terrain of the park is mostly level, increasing in elevation toward the south and east. Electrical service is more than adequate to the site and depending on demand competition is available from Alabama Power or Coosa Valley Electric Coop. The site has excellent visibility from Interstate 20.
